Ireland’s IT sector shows no sign of slowing down

The Irish tech boom isn't showing any sign of slowing down. There have been over 2,000 new start-ups in Ireland's IT sector in the past two years. 

That’s according to data complied and released by the credit and risk analyst 2014 saw 1,201 companies register compared to last year’s figures of 1,185. 

Managing director of believes the evidence suggests that the IT sector in Ireland is “going from strength to strength”. The level of state investment still being poured into this area and the availability of skilled IT professionals continues to make this country a popular birthplace for tech start-ups.

Unsurprisingly Dublin is the most popular city for these companies, accounting for over 50%. Cork follows on around 8%, with Galway in third hovering around the 5% mark.

Mrs. Cullen added that more needs to be done to grow the sector in other regions.

It will be interesting to see what 2016’s numbers reveal to us.
